Character name: Ishizu Ishtar
Fandom: Yu-Gi-Oh
Timeline: Post-season 5
Age: 20
~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: Nothing all that ~*magical*~ anymore - she comes from well after she relinquished ownership of the Millenium Necklace (or Tauk, whichever). However, she is very intelligent and wise for her age. After all, how many 20 year olds do you know have any kind of government position? She holds a particular intelligence in anything regarding her Egyptian heritage, as she's the Secretary General on the Supreme Council of Antiquities. She's also damn good at playing children's card games Duel Monsters (but just not nearly as good as Yugi/Atem).
How would they use their abilities?: She originally used her position to help bring together all of the right people to achieve a few goals at once. One, to become a responsible head of her family after their father's death and Marik's disappearance. Two, returning the Pharaoh's memory to him, which also would end up keeping her younger brother from going too crazy, and though the end result was what was desired, some of the steps taken along the way certainly weren't. However, she would do what she could to establish herself in some sort of political position to keep herself and her family from fading into the metaphorical dark once more. (Explained more in the background.)
Appearance: With tanned skin, blue eyes and long mid-back length black hair, Ishizu looks like what most would see a typical Egyptian as. She normally wears long off-white colored dresses that are quite modest in nature, the only skin being exposed being that of her shoulders and/or arms. Oftentimes, her white dresses are accompanied with golden adornments, including golden beads in her hair and a circlet of sorts that places an emerald in the middle of her forehead that sits a few centimeters below her widow's peak. She also wears golden armbands, bracelets and anklets, an occasional outfit of hers being topped off with a veil featuring a brooch bearing a decorative Eye of Wdjat.

Her figure is slender and proves her to technically be underweight, as she stands at a height of 5'5" and weighs in at about 95 lbs. Of course, based on the artwork, one would assume she's perfectly healthy.
Background: The Millennium Items. Seven of these magical items were created 5000 years (or 3000 if not going by the dubbed anime) ago in ancient Egypt, and because of the magic used to create them, each one had specific powers associated with each.
Millennium Puzzle (previously known as the Millennium Pendant before it was shattered and required assembly)
→ Causes interference with the abilities of the other Millennium Items
→ Initiates Shadow Games (a contest that takes place in the Shadow Realm where the contenders can’t be interrupted) and corresponding Penalty Games (punishment given to the loser of a Shadow Game; each Millennium Item can do this)
      → Unity
Millennium Eye
→ Allows the user to read a duelist’s mind and see through their eyes
→ Seal opponent’s souls and keeps them trapped until the user is defeated in a duel
Millennium Ring
→ Guides the owner to wherever they want, much like a compass
→ For instance, one character wants to find one of the other Millennium Items, so it points the way to the nearest one
Millennium Scale
→ Weighs another person’s heart against the Feather of Ma’at – if the person’s heart is filled with darkness, their soul will be sent to the Shadow Realm
Millennium Key
→ Unlocks the doors of a person’s soul, giving the user access to the ‘Room of the Soul’
→ Allows altering of the Soul Room, to the point that brainwashing is possible
Millennium Rod
→ Bends the will of others through mind control and allows telepathic communication with those under its control
      → Concealed short sword
Millennium Necklace
→ Allows the user to see glimpses of the past and near future, though the outcomes can be changed due to the influence of another Millennium Item
Over time and following a series of events that forced the Pharaoh of that time, Atem, to seal his soul away in the Millennium Pendant, the items were handed down through families or lost only to be found again.

The Millennium Necklace and Rod, however, stayed safely with the Ishtar family - the very same family that was burdened with the duty of guarding the Pharaoh's tomb, and the secret of his memory. Unfortunately, it was Ishizu's younger brother, Marik, who was burdened with the task of carrying the Pharaoh's memory, as their father consistently mistreated the older, adopted son - Odion - claiming him to be nothing more than a servant to the family. Odion had technically been the first of the siblings in the family, the matriarch of the Ishtar family finding him as an infant and taking him to treat him as her own son. However, due to her husband's dislike of the boy and their desperation to have a male heir to the clan, she had to bear yet another child, which was born around the time Odion was six years old. Much to her husband's dismay, it was a girl; Ishizu. When she turned four years old, one final child, who was finally a boy (Marik), was born eight months later, and their mother died during childbirth. Her last words to Ishizu and Odion happened to be a request for them to take care of each other.

Ishizu had been convinced by Marik when they were younger to have her take him out from tomb they lived in so he could see the outside world. However, because of the fact that she had done so, he had decided that he wanted nothing to do with becoming a tomb keeper, but he was later forced into the initiation ritual, the end product being the Pharaoh's memory being carved into his back. Ishizu prayed for him, but it didn't stop his descent into madness. Marik's darker half couldn't be stopped, even when he killed their father and eventually ran off with two of the three Egyptian God cards, as well as the Millennium Rod.

Ishizu then took the remaining Egyptian God card and the Millennium Necklace as she worked hard to make a name for herself in the Egyptian government, eventually becoming the Secretary General of the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities. As time went on, she made her way to Domino City where she knew Marik would be with Odion and took a position as the curator of the local museum. When the time was right, she invited Seto Kaiba, CEO of Kaiba Corporation, and Yugi Mutou (the boy who housed the spirit of the Nameless Pharaoh whose tomb her family was meant to protect) to the museum. During her meeting with Seto, thanks to the help of her Millennium Necklace (by showing him visions of his past self in ancient Egypt) and the Egyptian God card she'd hidden from Marik (knowing he'd want an all-powerful card), Ishizu managed to convince Seto to hold a Duel Monster tournament, the Battle City Tournament, with the promise of the chance to obtain the other two cards.

Never mind that she already knew Seto wouldn't be the one to obtain all three.

As the tournament went on, Ishizu worked her way up in the duels and ended up in the quarter-finals, those duels having been conducted on a Kaiba Corp blimp with a dueling arena settled conveniently on the top of it. Eventually, she was pitted up against Seto in a duel, and she claimed that she already knew she would win because she saw the details of the future duel with her Millennium Necklace. She almost managed it, but something changed in his strategy that caused him to play his signature card, Blue-Eyes White Dragon instead of his God card like she had predicted. She then reiterated her point of him being the reincarnation of someone from ancient Egypt and relinquished her ownership of the Millennium Necklace to Yugi, claiming that it would no longer respond to her, and as such, it wasn’t necessary for her to have in her possession.

Once the conclusion of the tournament came around, Ishizu and a newly-recovered Marik fulfilled their duty as tomb keepers and he revealed the product of the ritual he'd been forced to undergo when he was younger. Then he, Ishizu and Odion returned to Egypt to start a new life.

Some time passed and Yugi and his friends end up in Egypt, where the three Ishtars meet them and help them in a small way to recover the Pharaoh's memory fully. Once the group succeeded in doing so, Ishizu and Marik led them all to the tomb of the Pharaoh where he and Yugi would have to have a final duel to determine whether or not the Pharaoh's spirit could move on to the afterlife or remain in the present for another 5000 years. Once the duel concludes and the tomb collapses in on itself, Ishizu mentions that her family's duties as the tomb keepers of the Pharaoh's tomb are finally complete, and the Millennium Items are sealed forever.

Personality: Ishizu is, first and foremost, a professional. She holds a very important position in the Egyptian government, especially for being as young as she is, and as such, acts the part. She's very formal when addressing others, especially those that she isn't particularly close to. Or, in the case of the Pharaoh Atem or anyone that commands any sort of respect from her, she remains respectful towards them (for instance, she always refers to Atem as 'my Pharaoh' or 'my king' despite the fact that he's been dead for a few millennia).

What comes second to her professionalism is her maternal tendencies. She's very fond of her family, considering their history and the things they've been through together, and as such, likes having them close. Marik and Ishizu may have a tendency to worry about each other, but Ishizu would know her boundaries and try not to cross the line that would make her look like his mother instead of his older sister. When it comes to those outside of the family, she may very well be drawn to people she can look after or lecture. However, when it comes to them, she won't exactly take any old excuse or anything like that from them until she truly cares for them as she does Odion and Marik (which would probably be rare unless they're a very young child).

Though, above all else, she retains a sense of mysticism about her. She doesn't exactly give anyone a straight answer, and if there's something she wants to happen badly enough (such as save her little brother from that nasty darker half of his), she'll pull all the right strings to entice those involved so they can act accordingly (see Battle City Tournament) based on their own motives and desires. It'd require a bit of research or getting to know the person better before she could do it, but if it means reaching that ultimate goal, she'll do it.

Have you read up on how the game works?: The plugin for the Guide is the FlamingFerret, and the ways to earn money are by working/missions/freelancing, bumming around or stealing. Of course, Ishizu would only do one of these, duh.

1st person sample:

I suppose suggesting that something be done with the way things are run around here would be me stepping out of line? Not that I have a complaint with the authority and disciplinary matters, but ah…

Well. Perhaps a museum? I have yet to see one around, but this is also a very large place, I’ve noticed.

If there isn’t one at all, then Seto, I would like to have a word with you.

3rd person sample:

Gold bracelets shimmered in the light as they were slid up a tanned wrist, the metal cool against her skin for a few moments before it began to warm up. Soft fingertips brushed against the emerald centered on her forehead and moved a few centimeters along the golden circlet, and deep blue eyes slid shut.

With a quiet sigh, Ishizu moved her hand to her neck, fingertips brushing against the bare skin. She hadn’t expected that not having her Millennium Necklace would be so odd for her, but such was the way of fate. Ever since she’d had it in her possession, it just… felt natural to her.

She was initially okay with the items being sealed away after the Pharaoh had passed onto the afterlife, but that was because it was something that had to happen, not only for the sake of the Pharaoh being at peace, but also for the sake of her family’s duties being over. Now that it had, she knew that it was hurting his friends to know he was gone, and it hurt her as well.

However, she wouldn’t let herself dwell on those kinds of thoughts. After all, moping about after Marik’s disappearance wasn’t what helped her gain a position in the Egyptian government at such an early stage of her life, and it certainly wouldn’t help her now. She had a lot to accomplish now.

Straightening herself up, the young woman nodded, more to herself than anything else. Her family would no longer be pushed underground.

Questions?: None that I know of just yet. :x
Did you put your characters name and fandom in the subject: I'd hope so. =3
